We have to gear up to the challenges of autism in these times. Before we were dealing with 4 autism patients out of every 10,000. Today the number is 20 times longer. How? By simple computation knowing that 1 out of every 150 has autism.

There are cases where autism patients got more successful when they got older. You might have heard of cases where an adult autistic person got married, did an LDS mission, went to college, obtained an associates degree and move closer to getting a bachelors degree. It really happening around us and that’s great.

Most successful autistic patients credit their parents for their success. The appreciation list is often extended to accommodate their teachers too. In all cases, the moral is the same. It’s often that with the right motivation and support even autistic patients won’t stay “down”.

There are scores of scientific material to support each factor the science world has established to cause autism. In the same vein, there is also a mass of scientific documentation that counters them. But between the proponents and their nay Sayers they agree that every parent is expected to show due diligence about the autism status of there child.

You may think you have heard all the causal theories that researchers have to give about autism. I bet you, you have not heard all. Some of them sound a bit odd. Some have postulated that autism happens because the human brain is going through an evolutionary process.

Scientists have backed the “genetics” theory of origin for autism cases. There has been a slight departure from that position from certain scientists some of these scientists now attribute it to frequency pollution from cell phone towers, pre-natal ultrasound use and radars.

Getting the research going on the disorder is costly. It will practically cost more as the years roll by and as an absolute cure continues to elude the scientific world. It equally cost so much to manage. Millions of dollars is spent each year on each school system for the management of autism.

Have you heard about pervasive Development disorders? Well PDD’s come under 5 categories and autism is one of them. Others include PDD-NOS, Asperger’s syndrome, Rett’s syndrome, childhood disintegrating syndrome. Asperger’s is often identified as a mild sort of autism.

Because of the challenges ahead regarding autism the need for autism activism is on the rise. Besides looking for one to join you can start up one yourself if you are very passionate about it. You can be like the founder of United for Autism whose child had Asperger’s syndrome. Or you could be different and start one driven by passion alone not your own casualty.
